10/24/2014 — Happy Permutation Day!
Today we celebrate another Permutation Day! I call days like today permutation days because the digits of the day and month can be rearranged to form the year.
This is the fourth permutation day of of 2014, and there’s one more on its way.
Celebrate Permutation Day by mixing things up! Try doing things in a different order today. Just remember, for some operations, order definitely matters!

Nice exercise for upper elementary and middle schoolers! I may be wrong but didn’t April this year have 2 such permutations: 0412 & 0421 for a total of 6 for the year. Might be fun to ask students if any years in this decade had more than 6 like 2011: 0112,0121,0211,1012,1021,1102,1120,1201,1210
That might be max but it does encourage me to be more systematic and attend to detail! Thanks for your great blog…
