Infinity is a naturally compelling subject, and the apparent convergence of this sequence of similar iron posts brings to mind an infinite geometric series, where each term is a scaled-down version of the previous one.

This beach umbrella casts a fairly octogonal shadow!  If I knew more about astronomy, I suppose I could have used this shadow to compute the time of day.

One of the many art installations on Governor’s Island, New York.

One bright, blue-sky day I happened to look up and notice this triangular intersection of wires.  Configurations like this always put me in mind of the Exterior Angle Theorem, one of my favorites from elementary geometry.
